The Pillars of my Approach to Agile

EMPOWER PEOPLE

People who feel safe and empowered are radically more productive than those who fear getting something wrong. The goal is for teams to be self-governing, empowered to make decisions internally and have the ability to pivot where needed.

COMMUNICATION IS CRITICAL

Agile can seem scary, especially to those outside of the team who need it to work but don't have any ability to influence outcomes.Learning to communicate outwardly through discovery and demos is essential.

OUTCOMES OVER PROCESS

It's not tools and processes that matter. It's mindset and outcomes. It's easy to become obsessed with rituals, tools, and reporting. While they can be helpful, they should never be the goal.

Frequently Asked Questions

An Agile Coach is someone experienced in Agile development who guides an existing team into achieving consistent high performance.

A fractional Agile Coach is a highly experienced coach that might work across 2 or 3 clients. The benefit is you get all their knowledge without the expense of a full-time role. This means you can focus spend on developers, designers and researchers.

You get all my knowledge from years in Agile consulting without paying for me full-time. I don't need access to your IT systems, and you can avoid a lengthy RFP process.

You certainly can, and they will likely do a good job. The issue is their incentives are not aligned. For a large consulting firm to make Agile Coaching worthwhile, they will need to sell you additional services.

I have experience with Azure DevOps, Trello, Jira, Confluence and Basecamp, amongst others, although it is worth noting that most Agile issues are not about the tool.
